A couple of weeks ago I posted images (including the one above) from a 2005 fashion sequence by Christophe Kutner here.
A friend recently sent me the following message:
"I meant to write to you about one of your blog postings. It is the one with the photos of the men in tutus. The one fourth from the bottom particularly struck me and it was reminding me of something, but what? It came to me: Renaissance portraits of lords and princes in petticoat breeches."
And my friend attached several examples to the email to make the point:
"No puffy breeches," continued my friend, "in the Bronzino here at the end, but I thought the 'young man with a book' had some of the hauteur of the man in your photo."
