Dollhouse

The drawing of a dollhouse in the 30-year-old advent calendar seen here yesterday reminded me of this 100-year-old photograph of a dollhouse in New York. Apparently it was part of the play equipment in a public park of that day. The smallest girl – on the left, in plaid dress – is sternly pretending to pour a cup of tea, while the tall lively one at far right is already bored with posing. They look uncannily like the cast from a novel by the great Maud Hart Lovelace.
