Jacquemus

Jacquemus is a young and successful (very young and very successful) French fashion designer. His newest collection is called L'Usine. The images below and the film above are set in a dingy olden-days French factory. Personally (as somebody who spent several years of a misspent youth actually working in environments like the one depicted here) I often am amused by this traditional trope of the fashion spread, where designers rush to point out their own proud irrelevance to the laboring world.

I wanted the soundtrack from The Devil Wears Prada, where Meryl Streep asks, "Can't anyone find me some slender female paratroopers?"

The Jacquemus presentation also made me remember Michael Wolf's far different photographs of German factory workers, presented to the viewer with affection and respect.
